More Than Conquerors
The Power Beyond Measure
When we consider our faith, we often refer to ourselves as Christians. But did you know that Jesus referred to us as "overcomers"? According to the Bible, we are the people of victory, as clearly stated in Romans 8. The Greek term used here, "hypernikaō," portrays us as "more than conquerors" - individuals who prevail completely, and whose victories are beyond measure. This is akin to playing a game of football and having a score so high, it becomes innumerable.
Condemnation - Part One
Let's start by exploring the meaning of "condemnation". Essentially, it means to find fault. If we examine anyone's life closely enough, we'll undoubtedly find flaws because, as the saying goes, "nobody is perfect." In a legal sense, condemnation is akin to being accused, found guilty, and sentenced.
Sin is the door that leads to condemnation. John 3:18 tells us, "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God." This isn't mere theological discourse; it's a spiritual reality. Living under the weight of condemnation carries a profound sense of guilt and shame. It instills a feeling of unworthiness, discourages us from seizing new opportunities, hinders relationships, and often leads to an inability to forgive oneself and others.
To lead lives filled with hope, peace, and joy, we must overcome condemnation.
No Condemnation in Christ Jesus - Part Two
The Bible does not say that there is no condemnation in church, in ministry, or outreach. This implies that overcoming condemnation isn't merely about doing—it's about believing. "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus," Romans 8:1 declares.
Your faith in Christ changes your spiritual position, aligning you with Him. This isn't a matter of personal strength or ability; it's about your position in Christ. "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death," as Romans 8:2 expresses.
We must shift our focus from ourselves and others and place our faith entirely in Jesus.
Lives, Dies, and Arises in Christ - Part Three
Being in Christ signifies that a person lives, dies, and arises in Him. When you are "in Christ":
You have already lived - Your spiritual position is as if you've lived as Christ did - sinless and righteous.
You have already died - The penalty for your sins has been paid for through Christ's death. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). Thus, believers never have to face spiritual death.
You have already been raised - In Christ, you have received the "new life".
In Christ, we are more than conquerors. We have conquered condemnation. We have prevailed completely and hold victories that are beyond measure. So let's live our lives in this triumphant reality, as overcomers and more than conquerors.
