Week 2

"Christ's Humility"

Bible study outline for Week 2 on "Christ's Humility":

Opening Prayer: Begin by praying together, asking God to open your hearts and minds to His Word and to give you the wisdom and strength to apply it to your marriage.

Scripture Reading: Read Philippians 2:1-11 together.

Discussion Questions:

  1. In verses 1-4, what are some of the qualities of Christ's love that Paul describes? How can you apply these qualities to your marriage?

  2. According to verses 5-8, what was Christ's attitude towards humility and service? How did He demonstrate this attitude in His life and ministry?

  3. In verse 3, Paul says, "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves." What are some practical ways you and your spouse can apply this principle to your marriage?

  4. In what ways have you and your spouse struggled with pride or selfishness in your marriage? How have these attitudes affected your relationship?

  5. What are some practical ways you can serve each other selflessly in your marriage? How can you encourage each other to do so?

Application:

  1. Take a few moments to reflect on the discussion and pray for each other, asking God to help you imitate Christ's humility in your marriage.

  2. Make an action agreement to serve each other selflessly. This could involve committing to a specific act of service or sacrifice for each other on a regular basis.

Closing Prayer: Close in prayer, thanking God for His Word and for the example of Christ's humility and love. Pray for the strength to serve each other selflessly and to put each other's needs before your own..
