Week 3
"Pressing Forward"
Bible study outline for Week 3 on "Pressing Forward":
Opening Prayer: Begin by praying together, thanking God for His Word and asking Him to give you wisdom and strength to apply it to your lives.
Scripture Reading: Read Philippians 3:7-14 together.
Discussion Questions:
In verses 7-9, Paul describes his own attitude towards his past accomplishments and religious background. What does he say about these things? How can we apply this attitude to our own lives?
According to verses 10-11, what is Paul's ultimate goal in life? How does this goal shape his attitudes and actions?
In verse 13, Paul says, "But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead." What does this statement mean to you? How can you apply this principle to your marriage?
In what ways have you and your spouse struggled with past mistakes or regrets in your marriage? How have these things affected your relationship?
What are some practical steps you can take to let go of past mistakes and work towards a shared goal together? How can you encourage each other to do so?
Application:
Take a few moments to reflect on the discussion and pray for each other, asking God to help you let go of past mistakes and press forward in your relationship.
Make an action agreement to work towards a shared goal together. This could involve setting a specific goal or project that you can work on together over the next few months.
Closing Prayer: Close in prayer, thanking God for His Word and for the strength and courage to let go of the past and press forward in faith. Pray for His guidance and wisdom as you work towards a shared goal together.
