Worthy of the Gospel — Living a Life That Reflects the Cross
This week, what we’re going to be looking at is this: does your lifestyle show that you value what Christ did for you on the cross? Are you living worthy?
That’s the challenge Paul gives us in Philippians 1:27 when he says:
“Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ…”
This verse doesn’t just speak to what we believe — it speaks to how we live.
The gospel isn’t just something to agree with — it’s something to embody.
In this week’s Deeper Walk Wednesday, we’re asking the honest question:
Is my life in balance with the price Jesus paid for me?
Let’s dive in and discover what it means to live a life worthy of the gospel.
Part One: A Life Worthy of the Gospel
What does it mean to be worthy?
The Greek word implies “equal in weight”—a life that balances with the value of the gospel.
If your life was placed on a scale next to the cross, would it reflect its worth?
Titus 2:11–12 — “The grace of God… teaches us to deny ungodliness… and live righteously.”
It’s not enough to agree with the Bible—does it affect how you live?
Now consider this:
God gave His only Son.
Does your life show He was worth it?
Part Two: Three Marks of a Life That’s Worth It
Paul outlines three marks of a life that lives up to the gospel:
Philippians 1:27–29 — “…stand fast… strive together… not terrified… granted to suffer for His sake…”
1. Stand Fast
Philippians 1:27 — “That you stand fast in one spirit…”
Standing fast means staying firm, unmoved, and unshaken.
1 Corinthians 15:58 — “Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord…”
Don’t flinch in your faith.
Don’t run from the fight.
When others give up, you stand.
2. Courage Over Fear
Philippians 1:28 — “…not in any way terrified by your adversaries…”
The gospel doesn’t just require belief—it requires boldness.
2 Timothy 1:7 — “God has not given us a spirit of fear…”
Courage is not the absence of fear.
It’s choosing Christ in the face of fear.
When you’re bold in adversity, it shows the world your hope is real.
3. More Than Just Belief
Philippians 1:29 — “…it has been granted… not only to believe… but also to suffer…”
Real faith isn’t soft.
It’s not just confession—it’s commitment.
James 2:17 — “Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
Luke 9:23 — “Take up your cross daily…”
Following Jesus will cost something. But what you gain is eternal.
Part Three: Living Like He’s Worth It
Philippians 1:30 — “Having the same conflict which you saw in me…”
Paul reminds them:
“You’ve seen me suffer. Now it’s your turn. Stand strong—it’s worth it.”
God gave everything to save you from the worst thing—so you could experience the best thing: eternal life in Christ.
Romans 12:1 — “Present your bodies a living sacrifice…”
Ephesians 5:25 — “Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her…”
Let’s live lives that reflect the worth of the One who died for us.
Conclusion: Let Your Life Shout “He’s Worth It!”
Your conduct preaches louder than your words.
When you live boldly, you say, “He’s worth it.”
When you stand firm, you say, “He’s worth it.”
When you endure suffering for Christ, you say, “He’s worth it.”
Colossians 1:10 — “That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him…”
So let’s live lives that are worthy of the gospel—not in name only, but in conduct, courage, and commitment.
Let’s live in a way that tells the world:
“Jesus was worth it all.”
