Bible Study Part 2: “Sharing the Love: Spreading the Good News”
Overview of our forthcoming Bible study session, which is centered on the theme of sharing the Gospel. Our gathering today is an invitation to delve into the significance and methods of disseminating the love and truth of the Gospel to others. We aim to foster an understanding of the critical nature of spreading the Good News, rooted in a genuine sense of love and concern for others.
Key Scripture: Our session will be anchored by the verse Mark 16:15: "And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’”
Objective: The primary goal of our study is to highlight the crucial role we play as messengers of the Gospel. We will focus on the importance of sharing the Gospel from a foundation of love, emphasizing that our outreach should not be merely an obligation but a heartfelt expression of our faith and compassion for others. We will explore how this transformative message, when shared with love, can impact lives and communities.
We anticipate a session filled with insightful discussions and reflections, guiding each participant to embrace their role in sharing the Gospel effectively and lovingly.
Content:
Why Share the Gospel - The Imperative of Sharing Out of Love:
Discussion Point: We will explore the importance of sharing the Gospel motivated by a genuine love for others, rather than treating it as a mere obligation. This part emphasizes that our evangelism should stem from a deep compassion and concern, mirroring Jesus’ own approach to ministry.
Key Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 (NIV) - "If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal... without love, I gain nothing."
Objective: To understand that effective sharing of the Gospel is deeply rooted in love, and without love, our efforts are empty.
The Power in the Gospel - Understanding that Salvation is God’s Work:
Discussion Point: This section will focus on recognizing that while we are called to share the message, it is ultimately God who works in people's hearts to bring about salvation. We are mere vessels used by God to convey His message of redemption.
Key Scripture: 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 (NIV) - "I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow."
Objective: To understand our role in God's greater plan of salvation, acknowledging that the transformative power lies not in us but in God.
Our Role - Being Messengers and Letting the Holy Spirit Work:
Discussion Point: This part will explore our role as messengers of the Gospel, emphasizing the need to rely on the Holy Spirit to guide our efforts. We will discuss how we can be effective in our mission by being attuned to the Spirit's leading, understanding that it is He who equips and empowers us.
Key Scripture: Acts 1:8 (NIV) - "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Objective: To highlight the importance of the Holy Spirit's role in our evangelistic efforts and how we, as messengers, can be instruments in the hands of God.
